GBS Records is a record label working in conjunction with its own recording studio designed to help promote the artists and their recordings. The studio, OATH Studios (O.A.T.H. is an acronym--you figure out what it means--*]), is a 32 track professional facility located in Columbus, Ohio, combining digital, analog, and hard disc recording for the best of what these mediums offer.
*(ooh, a mystery! I love a mystery!)

The Studio

OATH Studios is a project studio, designed as an artists workshop with a very relaxed, comfortable environment. Hopefully, this allows the artist to concentrate on the project without worrying unduly about the clock. Located in the very heart of downtown Coumbus, the studio is only 2 blocks from the state capital and directly across from the City Center Mall, which allows for some welcome dining and distraction for clients in the "hurry up and wait" world of recording. ("It'll only take me ten minutes to do my guitar lead, guys, really." Yeah, right.) Also nearby are the Palace Theater and the historic Ohio Theatre, as well as cuisine of every variety, including Pepper's Deli, a New York style deli located directly below the studio.

A Bit Of History

The studio was originally designed as a personal project studio for myself, myself being Tom Boyer, and my band, Oswald & The Herringbones. I am an engineer as well as an artist, and the studio became quickly popular with other local and even national artists as an economical and friendly environment in which to work. It grew in popularity and now has provided work on projects for larger record labels, including Columbia, Shanakie, Slab/Concrete, Green Linnet, Elecktra, blah, blah, yeah, yeah...

The Facility

A personal project studio, the facility is not expansive. It consists of a conrol room, a main studio, and drum booth, a live room which also doubles as a kitchen/lounge, and a smaller isolation/utility room. The control room features a Mackie 32x8 mixing console with full mixdown automation, 8 tracks of 1/2" analog recording, 16 tracks of Alesis ADAT digital recording, and 8 tracks of ProTools hard disc recording and editing. Also available is full MIDI sequencing on either Macintosh or PC platforms. CD mastering is also available with Digidesign Sound Designer II and ProTools. Clients can have individual CD's made for home referencing of mixes, to hear exactly what the project will sound like on disc.
