UNLEASHING SONIC ASSAULT

Debut CD from Pan West Coast Cyber Metal Project

Los Angeles, CA, January 1996

Spanning the American West Coast from Los Angeles to Seattle, WINDS DIED DOWN combines technology, imagination and spontaneous combustion of adrenaline and madness into their own unique brand of industrial strength cyber metal mayhem.

WINDS DIED DOWN is both surreal and melodic, sinister and cynical. It is powered by a 21st Century synth engine of sheer brute force and driven by a frontman whose haunting gothic metal wails summon the minions of the netherworld. Each passage is delivered with intense emotional conviction and disturbing hacker prowess. The WINDS DIED DOWN experience takes the listener down a dark path of complex emotions encased in a black suit of neo-gothic space armor. Creative sampling of conventional and non-conventional sources as well as regular abuse of both new and old synthesizers contribute to the futuristic post-apocalyptic wasteland soundscape.

WINDS DIED DOWN find their influences deeply rooted in heavy metal and gothic sci-fi. From Skinny Puppy to Queensryche, from Ministry to Judas Priest, from The Sisters of Mercy to Black Sabbath, WINDS DIED DOWN fuses the very best of traditional guitar based hard rock with ultra-modern cutting edge synthesized and digitally twisted industrial sci-fi techno goth metal. Only the strongest elements survive, and the resulting blend is both compelling and disturbing.

WINDS DIED DOWN is the brainchild of longtime friends and bandmates Rob Rampley and Christopher Compton. It began some 10 years ago when the two played in hard rock and heavy metal bands throughout the Pacific Northwest. One dark and gloomy night in Montana, Rampley and Compton chose to move west to Seattle, Washington instead of California based on a coin toss.

After a year touring the US with various acts and another year exodus to Japan programming laser systems, Rampley made his way to Los Angeles where he now writes software for synthesizers and computers. He has also created sound effects for numerous films and has engineered and produced for several recording studios. These experiences have been instrumental in Rampley's eclectic gestalt approach to songwriting and music production.

While Rampley has moved south, Compton has kept his residence in Seattle. Compton's dark and cynical interpretation of life is evident in his lyrics and choice of subject matter. He and his powerful metal persona have fronted numerous bands such as NAKED SUN, FIRE ANTS, MR. GREEN GENES and DAYS IN VAIN, to name a few. Compton is currently writing, programming and singing for Seattle's newest goth machine, FROST.

Guest vocalist Lana Lane, whose symphonic rock debut album LOVE IS AN ILLUSION is sweeping the world, contributes her distinctive vocals to the record to add an angelic choral texture to the WINDS DIED DOWN cyber temple of darkness.

WINDS DIED DOWN has now begun its assault on the internet and the industrial/techno/goth/darkwave/metal masses. Look for them in your darkest nightmares, and find them here at www.mok.com.
